SUMMARY: Elected roles of Membership to act as active members of the Executive Committee for two-year terms, except the Treasurer who will serve a four-year term.


President: The President serves at the discretion of Membership and professionally represents the organization directly and indirectly in all affairs inside and outside the organization during their two-year term, providing operational and strategic management for the HQG.  The President will Chair the Executive Committee as Chief Executive Officer and will preside over all Committee and Membership meetings and regularly communicate with all organization Committees. The President is responsible for working with the Treasurer to ensure legal compliance and fiduciary responsibility in budgeting. The President will work with the Vice President to prepare them to successfully maintain the health and continuity of the HQG mission, and with the Secretary to ensure continued legal compliance and record collection, maintenance and distribution.  The President will oversee all employees and contractors of the HQG.

Vice President: The Vice President serves at the discretion of Membership in the support of the President and assumes all Presidential responsibilities in the event the President is unable or refuses to act, and when so acting shall have all the powers of, and be subject to, all the restrictions of the President. The Vice President specifically works with the President to ensure continuity of compliance and mission from one administration to the next.  The Vice President will serve a two-year term and succeed the President.

Treasurer: The Treasurer will Chair the Finance Committee and is responsible for tracking and reporting all financial transactions, assets and liabilities with regular reporting to the Executive Committee and Membership.  The Treasurer will work with the Executive Committee to establish a financial plan and budget to achieve the goals of the organization while focusing on maintaining the financial health of the Organization.  The Treasurer will perform all legally required fillings with governmental and financial institutional requirements and provide payment to employees and contractors as approved by the President.

Secretary: The Secretary serves at the discretion of Membership in ensuring all rules and bylaws of the HQG are adhered and promoted, actively attending all Executive and All-Member meetings during their two-year term.  The Secretary will be responsible that all legal compliance, records and documents are collected, maintained, archived and distributed as required, preparing the agenda and ensuring minutes are taken for all Executive and All-Member meetings. The Secretary will conduct and record all voting and Board elections and results.

Member-at-Large 1: The Member-at-Large 1 serves at the discretion of Membership in the support of the Executive Committee, and actively attends all Executive and All-Member meetings during their two-year term.  The Member-at-Large works specifically with Committees and Industry representatives to increase hop quality throughout the hop supply chain for the benefit of all hop stakeholders, while utilizing their experiences to enrich the brewing industry and ensure hop needs are met for all brewers.

Member-at-Large 2: The Member-at-Large 2 serves at the discretion of Membership in the support of the Executive Committee, and actively attends all Executive and All-Member meetings during their two-year term.  The Member-at-Large works specifically with Committees and Industry representatives to increase hop quality throughout the hop supply chain for the benefit of all hop stakeholders while utilizing their experiences to enrich the brewing industry and ensure hop needs are met for all brewers.

Past President: The Past President serves all hop stakeholders throughout the hop supply chain as Ambassador of the HQG and mentor to hop quality.  The Past President utilizes their experience and dedication to hops to further enrich hop quality and promote the HQG at brewing and hop industry events globally.  The Past President will be a voting member of the Executive Committee in case of ties. 

The Hop Quality Group advocates for all brewers, not just members, in the maintenance and improvement of hop quality, in addition to developing and sharing useful information about the quality characteristics of hops.
